Our Social Responsibility

Ginza Tomato is independently and proactively committed to various social contribution and environmental initiatives, such as promoting employment for people with disabilities and supporting regional economic recovery. Through these social activities, our goal is to widely promote and share the values of “beauty and health” with society.

By sowing many seeds today, we aim to nurture buds that will connect with future customers and eventually bloom into an abundance of flowers. Ginza Tomato plans to steadily maintain its long-term commitment and support for these CSR activities moving forward.

Social Initiatives

Promoting Employment for People with Disabilities

The process of opening shells and extracting pearls without scratching them requires a delicate balance of strength and precision. Because of this, the task cannot be mechanized and must be done entirely by hand. Through a fortunate connection, an opportunity arose to partner with a local community in the pearl farming region to employ individuals with disabilities. Working carefully to avoid damaging the pearls requires immense concentration, and everyone approaches their work with exceptional care and perseverance.

The responsibilities are diverse, ranging from opening the shells and sorting the pearls by color, to separating the nacre from the nucleus. While certain tasks may be better suited to some individuals than others depending on their specific disabilities, assigning the right job to the right person results in flawless craftsmanship where their disabilities become completely unnoticeable. Today, our company simply could not exist without them.

Empowering Global Talents

As part of our global expansion efforts, Ginza Tomato actively supports international students coming to Japan. On November 29, 2014, we proudly provided comprehensive backup and sponsorship for an event officially supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Japan Tourism Agency, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government, and the ASEAN-Japan Centre.

Under the theme “Gambaro! Nippon” (Let’s Do Our Best, Japan), this event was organized as a proactive measure to brighten Japan’s future amid a super-aging society and projected GDP declines. It was held on the premise that fostering deeper international exchange and mutual understanding, welcoming more international students, and revitalizing relationships with neighboring countries will give rise to a communication-rich culture and shape a brighter future for Japan.

Our sponsorship and collaborative efforts at this event were widely recognized, and our President and Representative Director, Chieko Katsumi, was honored with a letter of appreciation. We are deeply gratified by this high evaluation from the organizers. Ginza Tomato will continue to champion individuals spreading their wings globally, as well as those coming to Japan from around the world, supporting their beauty and health while contributing broadly to society.
